The production and distribution of food, including agriculture, fisheries and related services, is the largest and most important economic activity in the world. It is a profession that relates to all the aspects of agricultural food materials--- from the time they leave the farm until they are used in the final form by the consumer. It includes food processing, preservation, evaluation, and distribution. Food scientists and technologists work in the food and drink manufacturing industry, using scientific methods to ensure that products are wholesome, nutritious, safe and attractive. They conduct researches as well as quality checks to ensure the best output.
Qualifications required
Food Science & Technology are science based professions and need a strong base in science subjects like chemistry, physics, food technology, biology and mathematics. Knowledge of Biotechnology, genetics, economics and microbiology are good value additions and pay in long run.
