Meaning
Environmental science is the study of interactions among physical, chemical, and biological components of the environment. It focuses on pollution and degradation of the environment and impact on biodiversity due to human activities. Environmental science is a vast subject that covers issues of climate change, environmental conservation, pollution, natural resources and their uses, contamination and depletion of natural resources, waste management, sustainable development, pollution.
Qualifications required
A bachelors degree in an earth science is adequate for a few entry-level jobs, employers increasingly prefer a masters degree; a Ph.D. degree is required for most high-level research or college teaching positions. Apart from environmental science professional the industry has ample scope for other professional dealing with Law, Physics chemistry, waste management, engineers etc who are concerned about the environment
Scope
Employment for environmental science is expected to grow at a very fast pace owing to the growing awareness regarding environment, pollution and depletion of resources. Apart from the government agencies the demand is on constant rise in the private sector due to the strict government policies coming in place. Scope is there for various specialists like law, physics, chemistry, Biology, earth science and hydrology.
